Leslie Creek Bridge
Structural Design Southeast Arizona
An inventory load rating was performed for this historic steel and timber bridge located in the ranch country of south-eastern Arizona. Previously posted for 3 tons, following an in-depth inspection, creating as-built drawings and performing structural analysis utilizing AASHTO’S Condition Evaluation for Bridges and the Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges, the load rating was increased to 8 tons, with potential for a rating over 14 tons based on retrofit recommendations. This increased rating saved the historic bridge from demolition and replacement.
